Sunflower Cake/Spring Baking Fun


To create this spring time creation simply search out the following!

 1.  1 box of store bought cake mix.

2.  1 can of store bought chocolate icing.

3.  1 cup or more or chocolate chip morsels.

4.  2-3 packages of yellow Easter Peeps.

Bake the cake as directed in a round pan. 

Remove from pan once cool and place on a platter or plate. 

Ice with chocolate icing. 

Surround cake with yellow Easter Peeps.

Sprinkle center of cake with chocolate chips.

Monday, April 18 - Free Mom and Tot Taekwondo Classes

Mom and Tot Class is a mix of age appropriate taekwondo mixed with weekly lessons to include Respect, Teamwork, Focus, & Fitness, also includes light age appropriate cardio fun. Mom and Tots work together so the child learns the appropriate times to use the weekly lessons by practicing with Mom.  Immediatelly following is Social Time for class participants to have a snack, hang out and meet other stay-at-home moms.  And if you still have energy to burn, stay for the Cardio Kickboxing Class at 10:45AM .... it's designed especially for moms!

Applications are being accepted for Leadership Southern MD youth leadership program, LEAD.  This is a 4-day learning experience to help teens develop leadership skills and excel in today's complex environment.  The program is held on June 26-29 at the St. Mary's College of Maryland.  Deadline May 15

The gymnastics fest includes games, playing on gymnastics equipment, food and beverages, Easter egg hunt

This event is a first come first serve event for the first 40 registrants. You can only register on-line for this event and pre-registration is required.  Only registered participants will be allowed in the facility, non registered siblings will need to stay in the lobby area with an adult. 4/21

Mary Theresa “Aunt Theresa” Sterling, known for devotion to her family and to the community, kept the Easter tradition of creating baskets and organizing a children’s egg hunt well into her seventies.   Current Sterling House owners, Dean Beck and Jo Ann Beck, want to restore this Easter tradition with an Easter Egg Hunt. Various prizes for finding the golden egg and the most eggs will be awarded.  4/24

NEW! Summer Sailing Camp
Sailing Camp Registration will begin on April 11 at the West Basin Marina.  Children ages 10-14 are eligible to participate.  Class sizes are limited so register early.  Fee for each participant is $175 per week. The St. Mary's County Public School System will hold countywide prekindergarten roundups to screen children to determine eligibility for school year 2011-2012.  Schools will hold prekindergarten roundups on Friday, April 29, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon and on Friday, May 20, 2011, from 12:00 noon – 2:30 p.m. (Green Holly Elementary will conduct roundups on April 28, 2011 and May 20, 2011.)
